Concept title: In the Know
Concept idea: In the Know is a web-based application that brings different published news articles from multiple media organisations together, thus allowing the public to consume the news from different angles. The news is divided into topics to allow for an efficient and informative experience.
Interaction 1: the main page
This is the main page that users can get access when entering the website. On the top there is a banner showing the headline news video, headline description, website logo and main navigation. On the right hand side there is a side filtering bar which displays all issue categories. For the website body it lists all the news issues by selecting specific issues from the filter.
Interaction 2: the timeline view page
Issue articles are listed based on the publishing time.
Interaction 3: how to switch to rank view
Users can click on the control panel on the right hand side of navigation bar, and select to sort articles based on its popularity.
Interaction 4: the ranking view
The up arrow means that users think this article is impactful to them. The down arrow means that users think reading this article is a waste of time. The vote number on each opinion is placed close to the vote arrow.
Interaction 5: article view and the live comments
The full article is displayed like this.
Users can enter their comments at the bottom of the page, and they also can select to enable or disable to display all the live comments from other users.
---------------------------------------------Presentation on Friday--------------------------------------------
On the presentation, we did very well in explaining all the ideas about In the Know. Our audiences raised a question, concerning about the bias that might already exist when editors choose biased articles from different providers. In this case, we are required to do more research on the next stage, ensuring the selected articles are biased and they are not perceived by editors' point of view.
As a team leader, Christine should combines all feedbacks from Yammer, and generates the right decision on the concept development.
